Straight answers on junk car removal

When does Georgia treat a car as abandoned?

Under O.C.G.A. § 40-11-1 and following, a vehicle is abandoned if it sits unclaimed at a repair shop 30 days past the agreed time, if it was towed to someone else's property at the owner request and left 30 days unpaid, or if it is left unattended on private property for 30 days.

Will I get paid for my junk car?

Maybe. Some operators buy cars and some only haul, and the amount depends on the buyer, the year, the make and the condition. We cannot promise cash, and the operator should state any offer before pickup.

What paperwork should I have?

Ask the operator what they need. We could not confirm one definitive Georgia checklist for title or salvage, so do not guess. Have your ID, the title if you have it, and any registration, and call the operator before pickup.

Can I get a car removed that is not mine?

Only if the law allows it. If a car is parked on your private lot without permission, Georgia sets rules for non-consensual tows under O.C.G.A. § 44-1-13, with signage and permit requirements. Read the details in the private property towing section before you act.
